Cloud games pay for every word.
Cloud AI is billed by the word, so to save money they shorten what the narrator remembers and cap how many turns you can take. The story quietly forgets things, and sooner or later your turns run out for the month.
We don't have a compute bill.
You own the hardware, so instead of optimizing for compute, we optimize for storytelling. Plottery runs on your computer with no internet needed, holding as much context as your hardware can handle. Helper agents quietly track the world state in the background as you read, keeping a record the narrator can refer to.
